Chiropractors have a wide variety of techniques, specialties and alternative methods to help people in a way that resonates with them most. We maintain the same idea, that health comes from within, but enjoy a wide range of practices to express this idea. There are sports doctors, radiology specialists, nutritionists, wellness doctors, pregnancy doctors, pediatric doctors and everything in between. Some doctors use instruments instead of hands to adjust, some use low force techniques and some supplement with alternative modalities.

The beautiful part of Chiropractic is that there is no best technique or method. When a chiropractor is passionate and disciplined about his work, the results are usually success. This allows Chiropractors to find specific styles that work for them and allows people to find a chiropractor that best suits their needs.

Traditionally, most people know that Chiropractic is good for neck pain, headaches and low back pain. However, Chiropractic can help in a much wider variety of issues. Children and adults have seen improvements under Chiropractic care with: extremity pain, radiating pain or numbness, pregnancy and birth, chronic ear infections, allergies, asthma, colic, TMJ dysfunction and much more. When your body can do what it is supposed to do, heal and thrive, the benefits are endless. By removing interference factors in the body, an environment is created that promotes healing in a natural and effective way.

The simple answer is no, everything at our office is a choice. We will educate you on the benefits of regular Chiropractic care, and explain the difference in varying frequencies of wellness care. However, similar to most other things in life, regular care will provide a lasting and increasing benefit. Just like with our cars, maintenance is cheaper than repair.

This will vary on a couple of factors. First, how long have you had the issue you are seeking care for. Problems that have been going on for years cannot be expected to be cleared up in one or two weeks. Secondly, how severe is the issue? When your body is in crisis mode it will require more care to get back to a balanced state. Another factor: how much stress are you putting on your body outside of our office visits? The more stress and strain you put on your body in between visits, the more likely your body is to sink back into the dysfunctional patterns. The frequency and duration of the initial care plan will be determined by the examination, and varies for each individual. The first part of the care plan usually takes 6-8 weeks, which is the body’s natural healing cycle.

The safe and connection-centered approach we use at Presence Chiropractic focuses on finding a point of ease to adjust from. The adjustment is made when the body is in a relaxed state. Usually, the pain of an adjustment is caused by the person being tense. We do everything possible to provide adjustments that work with you and not to you. That being said, some areas are painful to adjust. With each visit, we learn more about your system, this enables me to provide more effective adjustments.

Typically, people walk away feeling great after an adjustment. However, some people do get sore following their adjustments. This is because we are putting input into your body in areas that have not been acknowledged in a while. Similarly to your first workout after a long break, you can potentially be sore following your first few visits. This is not always the case, and based on reports from practice members, this is an uncommon occurrence.

The body is all connected through our various tissues. Oftentimes the area of pain or symptoms is not the foundation of the problem. We do adjust in the area of complaint, because your relief of symptoms is important to us. However, more importantly, we care about keeping you out of pain and dysfunction, so we search for the root of the problem.

Research shows that Chiropractic care is safe to be utilized for people of all ages. There are some people who are concerned about Chiropractic care causing strokes, but the research shows this is no more likely than somebody going to the dentist.

The common thought is that the adjustment requires a “popping” sound for it to be effective. Popping of the joints is simply the gas inside of the joint capsule, being quickly displaced. This is why you can pop your knuckles every 10-15 minutes without any therapeutic effect. In fact, there are plenty of Chiropractic techniques that do not elicit a popping sound and are still very effective. We work with the nervous system, to restore communication between the brain and body.
